Frequently Asked Questions

What age groups are your workshops suitable for?

Our workshops are designed to cater to a wide range of age groups, from primary school students to secondary school teenagers. We tailor the content and techniques to be age-appropriate, ensuring that students of all ages can benefit from the workshops.

How long do the workshops typically last?

The duration of our workshops can be customised based on the school's schedule and needs.  Typically, we deliver half-day and full-day programs.

Who conducts the workshops?

Our workshops are led by experienced instructors who have trained with the National Federation for Personal Safety, and  are experienced in self-defence, personal safety and martial arts. All our instructors have undergone rigorous training and CPD, and have experience working with children and teenagers.

How are the workshops structured?

Our workshops are a mix of interactive discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. We emphasise participation and engagement, allowing students to practice techniques in a safe and supportive environment.

Is self defence the same as learning martial arts?

While there is inevitably some cross over between self defence and martial arts they are not the same thing.  Self defence is primarily focused on protecting oneself from danger or harm.  It involves practical and mental techniques to be effective in real-life situations, with the goal of avoiding, escaping or neutralising a threat quickly.  Martial arts, on the other hand, is often practised as a sport or art form and involves more complex and refined techniques that may take years to master.  The physical techniques learned in self defence are simple and practical and designed to work in high-stress situations.

What safety precautions do you take during the workshops?

Safety is our top priority. All physical activities are supervised by trained instructors, and we use padded equipment when practicing self-defence techniques. We also ensure that all students understand the importance of practicing in a controlled and respectful manner.  Copies of risk assessments, DBS certificates and insurance certificates will be provided to the school.

Can the workshops be customised for specific needs?

Yes, we can tailor our workshops to address specific concerns or needs of a school or target group. Whether it's focusing more on online safety, addressing bullying, or enhancing confidence, we can adjust our content accordingly.

What are the costs associated with your workshops?

The cost of our workshops varies depending on the duration, number of participants, and any customisation requested.  As an indication, a 2.5 hour workshop typically costs £300, and a full day £750. Please contact us for a detailed quote based on your specific needs.

What is the maximum number of students per workshop?

To ensure quality instruction and individual attention, we recommend a maximum of 30 students per session. For larger groups, we can arrange multiple sessions or provide additional instructors.

How do you handle sensitive topics such as violence and bullying?

We approach sensitive topics with care and professionalism. Our instructors are trained to handle discussions on violence and bullying in a way that is age-appropriate and respectful. We aim to empower students without causing fear or anxiety.

Do you offer follow-up resources after the workshop?

Yes, we provide follow-up materials and resources for students, teachers, and parents to reinforce the lessons learned during the workshop. This includes tip sheets, practice exercises, and additional reading.

Are your workshops inclusive for students with disabilities?
